Why has my Conversion Rate gone down?

When using Search, you might want to review your stats. You can enhance these results by reading Conversion Rate - Insights and Actions.

After a user starts a search, a session begins, and if a purchase occurs within 24 hours, it is recorded. The conversion rate is determined by dividing the number of purchases by the number of search sessions, representing sales relative to users who utilized the Search Engine. Achieving this involves registering an event when a search is initiated, and for recording sales, configuring the confirmation order URL is necessary.

Why is my CTR on Search so low?

To boost your click-through rate (CTR) on Search, you will need to understand the scenario your CTR is in and promote certain actions. Read CTR: Searches Lead to Clicks - Insights and Actions to know more.

What is the difference between Users Leave Without Clicking or Interacting from the CTR?

Think of it like this:

  • CTR (Click-Through Rate) = “How often searches lead to a click.” Mesures search effectiveness.

  • Exit Rate = “How many people used the search bar and then walked away without clicking anything.” Measures user engagement.

Example:

You have 4 users:

  • User 1 makes 3 searches and clicks on 2 products.
  • Users 2, 3, and 4 performs 3 searches and clicks on 0 products.

CTR (Click-Through Rate) is based on searches and clicks, not users.

  • For User 1: 2 clicks ÷ 3 searches = 66% CTR.
  • Other users: 0 clicks ÷ 3 searches = 0% CTR.
  • Total CTR: 2 clicks ÷ 12 searches = 16,7% CTR.

Exit Rate (Users Leave Without Clicking or Interacting) is based on users or sessions, not searches and clicks:

  • 3 out of 4 users used search but didn’t click = 75% exit rate

CTR vs Exit Rate Simplified Chart Example

Metric What it Measures How it's Calculated Example (4 users, 3 searches each)
CTR (Click-Through Rate) How often searches lead to clicks Total clicks ÷ Total searches Total clicks 2, Total searches 12 = CTR 16.7%
Exit Rate How many users leave without clicking Users who clicked nothing ÷ Total users 3 users clicked nothing ÷ 4 total users = Exit Rate 75%

Go to your Admin Panel > Configuration > General Settings > Sales data. For more information, read the article Sales Data Configuration.

Doofinder does not provide this data since it does not capture the user's ID or the cart. It only measures the ratio between checkouts and search sessions.

Does Doofinder track order returns?

No, our Sales Data tracks sales but not order returns.

How can I exclude my IP from the results but still use Doofinder?

You can filter your IP from statistics to ensure that searches performed by you or your team don’t affect your analytics. This way, you can continue using Doofinder while keeping your internal activity from affecting the data. However, note that while filtering prevents these searches from appearing in reports, they are still technically counted by the system in your usage.

Notice that the IP filtering is designed to discard only values generated after the configuration is done, meaning that queries executed prior to that will continue to be displayed. The changes applied may take up to one hour to take effect.

What is a session?

A session in Doofinder begins when a customer goes into your website and Doofinder's is loading. Each session has a duration of 24 hours, counted down from the moment it starts.

If the customer goes out and within those 24 hours goes into your website again, the countdown resets to 24 hours. However, if it remains closed after 24 hours, the session ends.
